The Japanese crane called the Tancho is a large and elegant crane. You can tell a Tancho crane by its red crown. A small number of these cranes live in the marshes of Kushiro, Hokkaido. The crane is a symbol of long life in Japan, and their design can be found on many different Japanese items such as paper money.
